Introduction to Wevi

Wevi is an AI-native video generation engine and infrastructure platform. With Wevi's developer tools, you can automate video creation, compose multi-scene storyboards, and render high-definition videos via natural language prompts in Claude Desktop or via standard REST APIs.

Key Capabilities

Model Context Protocol (MCP): Run @wevi/mcp to give Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, and Windsurf direct capabilities to search templates, extract web UI screenshots, compose layers, and render videos.
Developer REST API: Programmatic endpoints to manage projects, query template schemas, and trigger automated video rendering.
Dual Environments:
- Live (Production): Renders full HD 1080p/4k video assets using subscription credits.
- Test (Sandbox): Watermarked, 720p renders that never touch your credits — for automated test suites and local integration development.
One video per project: every scene you add to a project is rendered and exported as a single concatenated MP4 with music and voiceover.
Credit metering: live keys spend credits per scene render and export (1 credit per scene, 1–4 per export). Plans include an allowance, and packs top it up. See API Keys & Credits.

3-Minute Quickstart

Step 1: Generate an API Key

Sign in to app.wevi.ai.
Navigate to Profile → Developer API Keys & MCP.
Click "Create API Key" and copy your secret key (wevi_live_...).

Step 2: Configure Claude Desktop (MCP)

Add the Wevi server to your Claude Desktop config file:

Step 3: Prompt Claude to Create a Video

Open Claude Desktop and try this prompt:

"Search Wevi for published templates. Build a 3-scene AI product announcement (hook, feature, CTA) highlighting 'Automated Video Generation' and render it."

Claude will automatically call Wevi's MCP tools, configure the template parameters, trigger the render, and return the completed video URL right inside chat!
